Shake

10 seconds

Shake your phone for the duration you selected to complete the wake check and record the commitment.

Steps

30 steps

Get out of bed and walk. Choose 10, 30, 50, or 100 steps when setting the alarm.

Math

3 problems

Solve three short problems. Choose easy, medium, or hard when setting the alarm.

QR Scan

1 scan

Place any QR code away from your bed. Open Must Get Up after dismissal, walk to it, and scan it to complete the wake check.

One more deliberate step

Dismissing an alarm takes one tap. An optional wake check adds a second, deliberate action after that dismissal.

Choose a physical or mental task that suits your morning. Shake the phone, walk, solve three problems, or scan a QR code away from the bed.

Wake checks do not guarantee that you stay awake. They give you one more intentional step and record whether you completed it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose which commitment method to use?

Yes. Select one wake check while setting the alarm. You can edit it before the alarm fires and while no lockout is active.

Is Commitment Mode available on the Free plan?

Yes. Every wake check is included in the free V1 release.

What if I can't complete the challenge?

Step counting and QR scanning offer a safe exit when the required sensor or permission is unavailable. Must Get Up records the dismissal with the commitment incomplete.

Can I cheat the step counter by shaking my phone?

Must Get Up uses the step count provided by iOS. It is a motivation tool, not an anti-cheat or safety system.

How do I set up the QR code scan?

Use any existing QR code and place it somewhere suitable away from your bed. Must Get Up does not save the camera image or QR content.
